Following is a written transcript of an NBC-5 news segment which
aired July 15, 2005
[Anchors]
And a cowtown landmark goes uptown. The inside look at the newest luxury condos with a long
history.
From cotton to condos, the latest loft of luxury living in downtown Fort Worth has a very
lengthy past.
Where cotton was once king, condos now reign. Here’s NBC5’s Brett Johnson.
[Johnson]
In its hay day, luxury wasn’t the issue. The cotton exchange building in downtown Fort
Worth was all about practicality and, in 1919 when construction started, they built
things to last. And at long last it’s latest incarnation as the Neil P at Burnett
Park condos is beginning to take shape.
[Herring]
You have 10 vertical skylights that face north.
[Johnson]
This is the former cotton exchange inspection
room which developer Matt Herring says will soon be a five-thousand-square-foot luxury
penthouse with a massive wrap-around deck.
[Herring]
We've got a water feature in here and a trellised dining area over here.
But the piece de la resistance of the moment is this eighteen-hundred-square-foot luxury
condo model that is now open for viewing.
[Bogart]
All of the countertops are solid granite.
[Johnson]
Designer Brenda Stephenson Bogart says they’re
trying to capture the history and charm of the cotton exchange.
[Bogart]
It has that level of charm that you would never build in a new building.
By keeping each condominium classic, yet cutting edge. We wanted layers of texture;
we have grass shades under silk drapery. We have textured carpets, rich wood floors…And
let’s face it folks, downtown loft living is hip.
[L. Boschetti]
I am so anxious to
get in here, I keep prodding them and telling them: when am I going to come in? When
am I going to come in?
[Johnson]
Linda and Phillip Boschetti can’t wait to dump their Westside
home for a more happening way of life.
[P. Boschetti]
I work downtown and wanted to be close
to my office, and this is a perfect location for us. I’m right across the street.
[Johnson]
And
this one can be all yours for a cool four-hundred Gs plus. Brett Johnson NBC5 Fort Worth.
[Anchors]
A total of 60 condos will be built. Developers expect tenants to
start moving into the Neil P at Burnett Park in the fall. It
looks beautiful.
Yea it does, four-hundred Gs though, hmmm….
It’ll be worth a lot more someday.
That’s true.
It would be a good investment. |
